Toni Hays Kersey is part of Lone Star Legal Aid’s Management team and serves as a Supervising Attorney overseeing seven of their rural branch offices. She is part of the third largest legal aid provider in the nation servicing low-income clients in the Eastern and Gulf Coast areas of Texas as well as several counties in Arkansas. Toni has moved up the ranks from a staff attorney, pro bono coordinator, and managing attorney to her current position. She has been an advocate for domestic violence and sexual assault victims and has litigated many trials. She also has extensive experience in the areas of family, probate, housing, debt defense and government benefits.
Toni Hays Kersey obtained her Juris Doctorate from Texas Southern University’s Thurgood Marshall School of Law in 2010. After graduating and obtaining her license she went into private practice and worked for herself as well as a small firm for several years while doing pro bono work for legal aid. She transitioned to a full-time legal aid attorney in 2014. Toni is admitted to the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas, is a member of the Texas Bar College since 2014 and is a member of Delta Theta Phi Law Fraternity. She is a member of the Brazoria County Bar Association and has served in every capacity on the board including President and is currently a Director on the Brazoria County Bar Foundation. Toni has also served on numerous civic and community boards, and she has been a repeat presenter at the Texas State Bar Poverty Law Conference.
Toni has been married since 1992 to Henry Joseph Kersey, Jr. and they have three children. She enjoys traveling, reading and the great outdoors.
