Matt Probus attended The University of Texas School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1988. After graduating from law school, Matt clerked for the Honorable R.F. Wheless, Jr., a Bankruptcy Judge in the Southern District of Texas, Houston Division. In 1990, Matt served as a temporary law clerk to the late James DeAnda, then Chief U.S. District Judge for the Southern District of Texas. Matt opened his own practice in late 1990. In 1992 he accepted a position as General Counsel to a national collection agency where he worked until joining Wauson & Probus in 1999. Matt’s primary practice is in the areas of commercial and business litigation and bankruptcy reorganization and creditors’ rights. Matt was one of the founders of Fort Bend Lawyers Care and served as its President from 2008 to 2010. He has served on the State Bar of Texas Committee for the Delivery of Legal Services to the Poor in Civil Matters since 2009, and he is the current Chair of that Committee. Finally, Matt is a devout, vocal vegan and exercise nut.
