The Professional Ethics Committee for the State Bar of Texas is a nine-member committee appointed by the Supreme Court of Texas. Tex. Gov’t Code § 81.092(a) states, “The committee shall, either on its own initiative or when requested to do so by a member of the state bar, express its opinion on the propriety of professional conduct other than on a question pending before a court of this state.” Tex. Gov’t Code § 81.092(c) states, “Committee opinions are not binding on the supreme court.” All opinions of the Professional Ethics Committee are available in the Center’s searchable database.
