AUSTIN, TX (June 12, 2018) – Texas Center for Legal Ethics (TCLE), the state's leading nonprofit supporting and providing legal ethics education in Texas, today announced its plans for State Bar of Texas Annual Meeting 2018 in Houston, June 21-22. Attendees can earn one hour of ethics CLE credit during TCLE’s popular morning break-out session June 21 titled, “Your Brain on Ethics: How That Thing Between Your Ears Can Lead You Astray.” The Center will also host demonstrations of its newest ethics CLE subscription-based program launching later this Fall during exhibition hours at Booth #107.
“Our profession must continue to pursue innovative ways for attorneys to have access to the best possible ethics resources,” says Jonathan Smaby, executive director for Texas Center for Legal Ethics. “We have a responsibility to provide new and existing attorneys the ethical and professional tools necessary to build long, sustainable careers rooted in a high-standard of professionalism.”
The new subscription program will aim to provide new and current TCLE members with an intuitive online resource for all Texas attorneys to access continuing education courses on-demand, as well as TCLE’s vast library of ethics and professionalism resources.
Also during the two-day event, TCLE will kick off its membership and fundraising drive to help fund the expansion of TCLE’s existing live CLE programs in new markets and development of the new subscription program.
TCLE is best known for its Justice James A. Baker Guide to Ethics and Professionalism in Texas CLE program, which is required of the approximately 3,000 attorneys admitted to the Texas Bar each year. TCLE seeks not only to assist these attorneys to launch their legal careers successfully, but also to provide a solid ethics framework to provide continuity in learning and resources over their entire careers.
