William B. Hilgers of Hilgers & Langham in Austin (at right in photo above left, with Charlie Wilson, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Texas Center for Legal Ethics) and Judge Will Garwood of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit (at left in photo above right, with Chief Justice Wallace Jefferson) were awarded the 2011 Chief Justice Jack Pope Professionalism Awards at the 16th Annual John Hemphill Dinner on June 3 in Austin. The Awards were presented by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Texas, Wallace Jefferson, with former Chief Justice Pope in attendance.
Both honorees not only exemplify the high standards of honesty and integrity set by Chief Justice Pope, they were early leaders in the movement to elevate standards of ethics and professionalism among Texas lawyers. Our congratulations to both Bill Hilgers and Judge Garwood.
