The Texas Center for Legal Ethics is mourning the loss of Allan K. Dubois, Chair of the Center’s Board of Trustees, who died of cancer on January 8th. Allan was not only an accomplished attorney and mediator, he was also a dedicated volunteer for various legal organizations, including the State Bar of Texas, the Texas Bar Foundation, the San Antonio Bar Association, and the Texas Lawyers Assistance Program.
He served as President of the State Bar of Texas in 2015-2016, and last year was honored as an “Outstanding 50 Year Lawyer” by the State Bar.
“Allan’s presidency of the State Bar was dedicated to improving the lives of lawyers through the Texas Lawyers’ Assistance Program, for which he was a tireless advocate,” said Jonathan Smaby, Executive Director of the Center. "Allan’s love for Pam and their children and grandchildren was an inspiration to all who knew him. His enthusiasm, kindness, and graciousness will be greatly missed.”
Funeral mass will be celebrated Friday, January 28, 2022, at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church, 20523 Huebner Road, San Antonio, TX 78258, with military honors and reception following. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Allan’s memory to the San Antonio Council for Alcohol and Drug Awareness (sacada.org), Texas Bar Foundation (txbf.org) or Sheeran Crowley Memorial Trust (www.sheerancrowley.org).
