  1. Texas Center for Legal Ethics Announces 2014 Pope Award Honoree

    TCLE annually honors a judge or attorney who personifies the highest standards of legal professionalism and integrity. The Pope Award is named after one of TCLE’s founders, former Texas Supreme Court Chief Justice Jack Pope, who was the first individual to receive the award in 2009.
  2. Call for Nominations - 2014 Chief Justice Jack Pope Professionalism Awards

    The Texas Center for Legal Ethics is now accepting nominations for the sixth annual Chief Justice Jack Pope Professionalism Awards. The Award is presented to appellate judges and lawyers who epitomize the highest level of professionalism and integrity.
  3. Register Now for Upcoming CLE Program for Government Attorneys

    Registration is now open for the February 21 live CLE Presentation, Legal Ethics for Government Lawyers – Brown Bag Luncheon. The event will be held at the Austin Bar Association located at 816 Congress Ave in Austin.   4. Nominees for State Bar President Include TCLE Trustee

    The State Bar Board of Directors has announced its nominees for President-Elect of the State Bar. They are: Allan DuBois of San Antonio and TCLE Board Trustee Beverly Godbey of Dallas. Voting begins on April 1, and the results will be announced on April 30. The winner will serve as president of the State Bar during the 2015-16 bar year.
  5. Schedler Celebrates 15 Years of Service

    Teresa Schedler, the Director of Compliance and Operations for the Texas Center for Legal Ethics, recently marked fifteen years of service to the Center. She handles a wide variety of responsibilities for the Center, including working closely with the Supreme Court of Texas to ensure that all newly-licensed Texas attorneys fulfill their obligation to take the Justice James A. Baker Guide to the Basics of Law Practice ethics course, which is sponsored by TCLE.
  6. New Ethics Opinion Released

    Texas Center for Legal Ethics recently added a new ethics opinion #639 released by the Professional Ethics Committee for the State Bar. A copy of the opinion can be found under the Resources tab on the Texas Center for Legal Ethics website.
  7. Attorney Askew Honored as the 2013 Morris Harrell Professionalism Award Recipient

    The 2013 Morris Harrell Professionalism Award will be presented to Kim J Askew on November 1, 2013 by the Dallas Bar Association and The Texas Center for Legal Ethics. Ms. Askew is a partner at K&L Gates in Dallas.
  8. TCLE Trustee Kem Frost Named Court of Appeals Chief

    Kem Frost, a member of the Texas Center for Legal Ethics Board of Trustees, was recently appointed by Governor Perry as Chief Justice of the 14th Court of Appeals in Houston. Justice Frost has served on the Board since June 2013.
