Our Beginnings.
The Texas Center for Legal Ethics was founded in 1989 by three former chief justices of the Texas Supreme Court. The Center began as an independent nonprofit intended to promote the values included in the Texas Lawyers’ Creed.
Today, we’re the leading organization dedicated exclusively to legal ethics in Texas. And we’re the only organization selected to deliver the required legal ethics course – the Justice James A. Baker Guide to Ethics and Professionalism in Texas – to all new attorneys statewide.
Our Work.
We work as champions for ethics and professionalism in the legal arena, educating law students, attorneys, judges, and the public on legal ethics and the highest levels of professional behavior.
We also serve as a trusted resource for legal ethics information and events, providing speakers, symposia, courses, and CLE seminars for the legal community, local bar associations, and other bar-related organizations.
